University of Michigan Entertainment Coalition members now belong to a stronger organization with more support and visibility!
The Alumni Association of University of Michigan board of directors approved a request from UMEC to charter us as an officially sanctioned alumni organization. This affiliation gives UMEC a wide range of benefits including: -- AAUM's financial status, which can allow us to finally become a not-for-profit -- AAUM's outreach capability, such as its e-TrueBlue emails and its Web site. http://alumni.umich.edu/ -- AAUM's infrastructure, including liability insurance and other items a small independent club like UMEC might struggle to afford
UMEC owes a great deal to Dominic Cianciolo, former president of UMEC's Los Angeles chapter, for advocating for our official recognition for the past several years. He recognized the importance of the club's formal status to ensure our ongoing health and survival.
The University of Michigan Entertainment Coalition Mentorship Committee is ready to place excited mentees with experienced mentors throughout the year on a rolling basis. Although UMEC is bi-coastal with committees in Los Angeles and New York, this Mentorship Program is directed towards current students or alumni that are either based in Los Angeles or moving to Los Angeles.

We would like to thank everyone who submitted scripts to the 2006-2007 UMEC Screenwriting Competition. The response to our call for entries was overwhelming, and it was great to see so many Wolverines submitting such strong writing. Our judges thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the screenplays, and we have collected their comments on the scripts which we will email to each individual entrant. I would personally like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to read the scripts, and a special thanks to the alumni who will be reading the winning scripts and providing their feedback.
And the winners are...
ALUMNI CATEGORY: Paul Malewitz and Amol Paruleka for "Fate, Inc." $500 prize Script will be read by celebrated alums in the industry
STUDENT CATEGORY: Daniel June for "Stone Eyes" $300 prize Script will be read by celebrated alums in the industry
