Have you seen the leaders and best that will be reviewing the winning scripts?  Opportunities for this kind of coverage are rare for even the most networked screenwriter!  We invite you to review the screenwriting competition and participate! 

The University of Michigan Entertainment Coalition is holding an annual Screenwriting Competition. Our goal is to showcase the most talented emerging University of Michigan screenwriters and introduce them to prominent industry professionals who will be reading the winning scripts.

2006 entries are closed.   Please submit your script in late 2007!

During our recent visit to Ann Arbor, UMEC executives met with several key individuals to continue discussions to formalize UMEC as a University of Michigan Club.  Ann Arbor is paying attention to our growth and progress.  Even President Mary Sue Coleman commented on our growth and encouraged us to keep going!

I've got TiVo on my mind... and that ain't good!

The Tube is back (or maybe it’s never gone away if you’ve been frequenting www.youtube.com on the web) – at least it is now that HBO’s “The Wire” has returned… if you haven’t seen “The Wire”, then you’re missing out in what is possibly TV’s greatest show in the past 5 or 6 years. Greatest, because it does and has what very few shows do or have – great acting, engrossing storylines, compelling characters, sex & violence and… a no-holds-barred social commentary without being heavy-handed. Remember Ed R. Murrow’s comments about what the value of TV should be… David Simon’s show fits that bill. Although, if you haven’t seen any of the previous seasons you need to get the DVDs and catch up before this show gets deeper into this climatic season.

UMECer Brad Meltzer to make SOCAL Appearances
